Currently...

This week I'm joining the Currently crowd again. It's a quick and easy way to share what's up every other Tuesday. Thanks to the lovely Katy Upperman for the inspiration!

Loving

The warm weather! Finally. I got some lovely outside time in the sun and shade over the weekend, I even got to start and finish a book in a 24 hour period for the first time in a loooong time. It was glorious.

Reading

I read Brigid Kemmerer's Thicker Than Water, this weekend and today I started The Walking Dead, Compendium One by Robert Kirkman. I'm a huge fan of the TV series and I haven't read a comic book since I can't remember when, but I'm really curious about the hype and so I picked this up at the library. It is so HUGE it could shatter a walker's skull. It looks like it goes through the prison attack which is seasons 1-3 and a part of 4 if you watch the TV series.

Watching

Game of Thrones. I have many feelings and I did not sleep well on Sunday night. Sound Man asked me to explain why GoT was all over his Facebook feed (he doesn't watch it) and I couldn't even explain it without having more emotions.

Listening To

I'm catching up on my podcasts. They were piling up on my phone and sucking up all kinds of space. My absolute favorite is The Nerdist hosted by Chris Hardwick, where he has fun conversations with musicians, actors, directors, producers, and the like in a very informal and candid way. The discussions evolves naturally and sometimes I learn the most wonderful things about the creative process and other stuff I didn't expect. My bullet journal is full of quotes I pull from this podcast. Warning to those with kids: This is NOT super family friendly all the time. They can swear and depending on the guest, the conversation can sometimes be a bit...naughty.

Anticipating

I have a four day week this week and next, so I'm anticipating an awesome Memorial Day weekend and two wonderfully short weeks at The Day Job. I'm also get to see my goddaughter, Addie, for her 3rd birthday party this weekend.

Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend if you celebrate. I'll be reading and writing in the sun if I can. Do you have big plans?

Currently...Spring!

This week I'm joining the Currently crowd as a way to get back into the blogging groove. It's a quick and easy way to share what's up every other Tuesday. Thanks to the lovely Katy Upperman for the inspiration!

Loving

Spring. It finally stopped raining and the sun came out and everything. We hit 90 one day last week. It was grand.

Reading

I'm behind on my reading goal for the year, so I really need to pick up the pace. I just started Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler because John Green said I should in a Youtube video and I happened to be looking for something new to read. Last week I finished Maggie Stiefvater's The Raven King. I will not say more except to say that I have so many feelings.

Side Note: Does anyone else find the estimates on the bottom of the Kindle screen about how long it will take you to finish a book maddening?

Kindle: 7 hours 42 minutes
Me: ! This book isn't that long. I need to speed up.
Kindle: 7 hours 40 minutes.
Me: Faster!
*I get interrupted by SoundMan while reading and spend 4 minutes on one page*
Kindle: 7 hours and 45 minutes
Me: !
Kindle: 7 hours and 46 minutes

I had to turn that feature off in favor of just listing the page number/percentage complete. One of the things I miss about reading a physical book is being able to thumb through the pages I have left.

Watching

I just finished Season 3 of The Americans and now must wait until Season 4 is released on Amazon Prime (since it is still airing, this will be a long wait). It's not one of those shows I'm just dying to finish. It's a little dark, but a couple of the characters are interesting and the cliffhanger for season 3 was pretty good. I'm also excited Outlander is back, although this season has been a little ho-hum for me until the episode that aired on Saturday.  I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but whoa.

Listening To

The Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard is keeping me entertained at work and I have Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert on permanent loop in my car for whenever I need inspiration. I love, love, love the audiobook.

Health and wellness. I got a cold two weeks ago and then my allergies kicked in and now I have one clogged ear and a dry hacking cough that won't go away. I am slowly starting to feel better but I am really looking forward to not smelling like cough drops and getting my real voice back.

Happy spring!
